This is the perfect amount of beef for smaller families or for someone that has never ordered beef in bulk and wants to see what it is all about! These orders come with a pre-selected cut list, which includes our most popular cuts! The pre-selected cut list ensures that each quarter comes with an equal amount of front and hind meat.

Specialty Items:

These items are available for an extra cost. 15 lb min order for each item. Just a heads up, specialty items are made with the ground beef from your order, which will leave your quarter order with little to no ground beef. Because of this, quarter orders are usually limited to 1 specialty item per order:

  • Garlic Sausage: $4/lb

  • Pepperoni: $4.50/lb

  • Smokies (regular): $4/lb

  • Smokies (cheese): $4.50/lb

  • Smokies (jalapeno & cheese): $4.50/lb

  • Frying Sausage (regular or Italian): $4/lb

  • Jerky: $7.50/lb

  • Hamburger Patties: $25/box (per 10 lb box. Seasoned)

  • Vacuum seal packaging: $0.50/lb (we recommend butcher paper)

  • Pork is added to sausage, pepperoni and smokies (approx. 30%, lean), at $2.50/lb.

Customization Options:

  • Organs/Offals: These come at no charge but are first come first serve and not guaranteed; however, if you would like organs we will try our best to pair you with customers who do not.

  • Add soup/dog bones at no charge.

  • Add specialty items and/or vacuum seal packaging for an extra fee.




Weight.

Average hanging weight is approx. 150 lbs (hanging weight is the weight of the carcass after initial slaughter once the hide, organs, head and feet have been removed. This weight still includes the trim, which is the fat and bones). This is the weight used to calculate the price/lb for the meat and the butchering fees. This is typical for farm direct ordering.
Average packaged weight is approx. 90 lbs (this is the amount that will end up in your freezer once the order has been trimmed, cut and wrapped).

Price.

Approximate all-in price is $1000, including butcher fees. The final price is based on the weight of the carcass, which can vary from animal to animal. However, any fluctuation in the final price will directly reflect the amount of beef you will end up with.

Breakdown:
Beef Cost (Hansen Beef): $5.50/lb (no GST)
Butcher Fees (Country Quality Meats): $1.04/lb, plus additional butcher fees for slaughter, cooling, recycling of approx. $45 (plus GST)

Hansen Beef Cost: 150 lbs x $5.50 =
$825.00
Butcher’s Fee: 150 lbs x $1.04 = $156 + additional fees of ~ $49 & GST =
$215.25

Total cost = $1040.25

Deposit + Invoicing + Methods of Payment.

We require a $100 deposit to pre-order. Balance is not due until order pick up/delivery. Deposits are refundable up to 30 days prior to your estimated “ready” date. Please click here for more on our cancellation policy.

The total cost will be split into two separate invoices: one from Hansen Beef (prior to pick up) and one from Country Quality Meats (upon pick up). However, if you have requested delivery, Hansen Beef will provide you with a combined invoice upon delivery.

We accept e-transfer (hansenbeef@outlook.com), cheque or cash.

Pick up + Delivery

Pick up is available from Country Quality Meats (Bon Accord, AB) at no charge. Delivery and pick up is available within Sherwood Park for a $50.00 fee.

What does a 1/4 beef look like?

If you have never ordered before it can be hard to picture what almost 100 lbs of beef looks like, and to know just how much freezer space you will need! Below is an example of what a quarter of beef looks like upon pick up, as well as in a 17 cu ft freezer. We recommend at least 5-7 cu ft for storing your order.
